Do you love computers? Great. Please answer my questions.?
First, is the Compaq Presario CQ60Z a good laptop? They are at a real reasonable price now. Why do so many computer buffs hate Vista but really like the old XP? Will the Vista (which is standard) run a printer without a problem? Does it have to be a new printer to be able to be driven by Vista? Does the Home Basic package (standard on this machine) have Word and Excel available on it for immediate use? Could I buy a WordPerfect at a store somewhere and load it on the same machine, so I could write on my choice of Word or Perfect? Would the W/P be able to be transferred to the 2003 version of my W/P on my desktop? (I want to be able to save written stuff from one machine to the other.) Does the Presario like this one have ability to pick up at a WI-FI restaurant or coffee shop? Can I read burn/listen to CDs and videos on this machine?

1) Vista is a decent product. A lot of folks are simply resistant to change.
2) Vista will run a printer with no problem you simply need to add the drivers for the printer if they are not already included with vista.
3) Vista does not come with word or excel. you would need to purchase that. The MS Office student teacher edition is inexpensive.
4) word perfect will let you save documents in different formats so you should be able to save in a compatible format
5) WiFi. the presario can be used for WIFI connections if it has a built in wifi adapter. If it lacks one, you can purchase one.
6) you can burn CD’s and play dvd’s if it has a cd burner on it look for a CD R/W-dvd optical drive. you will need dvd rw to burn videos.
You might consider open office if you want a free spreadsheet and word processing application.
